Board Game Design Cricut Cutter
With the weather finally starting to warm up and the sun deciding to shine, what better way to enjoy these nice days than to play a game that can be easily taken to the park? Games bring people together and bring fun memories to social events. Board games hold a special spot in my heart as they were one of the highlights of spending time with my Grandparents.
So as we start to leave this dreary weather and break into the sunshine, I decided to make a portable game bag to take on the go. Using a Cricut or Silhouette craft cutter and some Siser® vinyl, it couldn't have been easier! These games can be played with grandparents, parents, friends, kids, and foes; you can also enjoy the process of creating your own game bag! This would be a great project for kids to be involved with. Having your kids help you create something that they can play with is a great opportunity for relationship building. This will also create satisfaction of accomplishment as they can use what they just helped make.
For my game bag, I decided to make a Chessboard to include Chess and Checkers pieces. I also decided to make a tic-tac-toe board and a matching game.
Here's what I used:
A simple white tote bag
Siser® Easyweed vinyl - Black
Siser EasyPSV Permanent vinyl
2-inch wood tiles (we found ours on Amazon)
Chess and Checkers
I decided to go with a classic black checkerboard. I used Siser Easyweed Black to create the board and outline. I also took my 2-inch wood squares and cut them in fourths to fit onto the whole board. I decided to add a little bit of color and chose Siser EasyPSV Permanent in Violet and Black Cat for the playing pieces.
Tic-Tac-Toe
For the tic-tac-toe board, I decided to also go with Siser Easyweed Black to match the checkerboard. But I opted for a lighter color scheme for the pieces. I used Siser EasyPSV Permanent in White Cloud and Soft Blue for the X's and O's.
Matching
For the matching game, I drew some simple shapes with the use of a digital art program and imported them into my cutting software. I used Siser EasyPSV Permanent in Rose gold to add a little shine and fun to the matching pieces.
Not only can you carry all the playing pieces inside of the bag itself, but the game creation is also endless. There are so many different game options that could be used with a tote bag. Creating something that can be used in real life can be both fun and rewarding. And when involving your kids to help you make it is even better when you can also play with them. Board games are a timeless past-time that should always be cherished and enjoyed!
